What Bible versions should I use for reading and studying?

The versions I like are the NASB 1995 and ESV with the NASB 1995 being my day-to-day reading/study Bible.

Great study bibles are the ESV Study Bible and the Reformation Study Bible. You want to find the version that best suits your reading ability.

There are Bibles I would avoid. Here is a link from Godsword.org that might help you determine which Bibles can help you most.

I would choose the Bibles that are closer to word for word interpretation, avoid paraphrase Bibles since they are unreliable to understand what God's word actually says.

Something like the NIV can be useful for many people out there as well as the NLT, but should be used as a 4th or 5th option and as an aide to perhaps understand a certain concept.

While the KJV gets knocked for being difficult to read, it actually is not too difficult. The KJV has been instrumental in our English language and should always be in our collections of Bibles. Plus, a lot of Bible aides use the KJV as their base. But for accuracy you want the NASB 1995.
